Siemens: Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind power plant officially inaugurated

Hamburg – The Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore wind power plant with 78 Siemens wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts and a rotor diameter of 120 meters, will supply around 320,000 German households with ecofriendly electricity. It is now officially inaugurated.

Renewables will drive Denmark’s cumulative capacity beyond 16 GW by 2025

London, UK - Denmark’s cumulative installed capacity is expected to expand from 13.5 Gigawatts (GW) in 2014 to reach 16.1 GW by 2025, rising at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 1.7%, says research and consulting firm GlobalData. The company’s latest report states that more than half of the total power generation will come from renewables (excluding hydropower) by 2020, as Denmark aims for renewables to become its main source of power by 2030. The government’s target is to achieve 35% of the total supply from renewables by 2020.

Gamesa secures new order for 98 of its G114-2.0 MW turbine from Brazil

Zamudio, Spain - Gamesa has signed its first contract 1 with Votorantim Energia, this Brazilian group's energy arm, for the supply, transportation, installation and commissioning of 98 G114-2.0 MW turbines at seven wind farms located in the state of Piauí, in eastern Brazil. These turbines will be equipped with Gamesa's MaxPower technology, which increases their nominal capacity from 2.0 MW to 2.1 MW, thereby boosting output from 196 MW to 205.8 MW.
