Voith Siemens Hydro to equip new Spanish pumped storage plant

Heidenheim, Germany - Voith Siemens Hydro will supply four reversible 213 megawatt pump turbines and the relating spherical valves for La Muela II project of by Spanish utility Iberdrola.

The contract value is around 36 million Euros. La Muela II on the Jucar River will start operation in 2012 and will expand the capacity of the existing La Muela pumped storage station - which has been in operation since the 1980s and whose equipment has also been supplied by Voith Siemens Hydro - by some additional 850 megawatts.
