Acciona and Aveng to build wind park and PV plant in South Africa
Madrid, Spain / Morningside, South Africa – Acciona Energy and the South African infrastructure group Aveng will build, own and operate two renewable energy facilities in South Africa totaling 209 megawatt (MW).The installations are a 135 MW wind park and a 74 MW PV solar plant. Both are supposed to be built between 2013 and 2014. The Gouda wind park will be built in the municipality of Drakenstein, Western Cape Province. It will be equipped with forty-six 3 MW Acciona Windpower turbines. The photovoltaic plant, called Sishen, will be located in the municipality of Dibeng, in Northern Cape Province. Acciona wants to take a 51 percent stake in the projects, Aveng a 29 percent stake. The rest will be contributed by two social promotion entities from South Africa.
