Biomass: Areva invests in bio-coal
Paris, France - The Areva group, a supplier of power generation solutions, has announced the acquisition of a technology enabling the production of bio-coal. Paris, France - The Areva group, a supplier of power generation solutions, has announced the acquisition of a technology enabling the production of bio-coal. Based on the so called Thermya torrefaction process, this technology produces plant fuel from biomass which could replace fossil coal used in the production of thermal energy and electricity. Areva aims at broadening the groups’ offer in the field of renewable energies by placing a stronger emphasis on technology. Luc Oursel, President and CEO of Areva, declared: "This acquisition strengthens our position in the field of renewable energies, and establishes Areva on the global bio-coal market, which has considerable potential."
