UK: Wind power generation soars in Q2 2015
London
Highlights for the three month period April to June 2015, compared to the same period a year earlier include, that wind power generation by major power producers increased by 61 per cent to 6,9 billion kWh. Offshore wind generation in the second quarter 2015 was up 70 per cent (+1.5 billion kWh) compared with a year ago, whilst onshore wind generation was up 53 per cent (+1.2 billion kWh). This is due to an increased capacity of wind farms and an average wind speed increase of 1.3 knots. Overall renewable power generation rose by 58 per cent with growth in biomass.
