Ventotec sells repowered wind farm in Germany

Leer, Germany / London - Ventotec sold the recently repowered wind farm Klettwitz in Brandenburg Schipkau with 89 megawatt to the British infrastructure investor John Laing.

The wind farm consists of 27 wind turbines of the type Vestas V112 and currently counts with 89 megawatts in the top 10 of the most powerful wind farms in Germany. The construction work for the repowering project is well advanced.

In the course of the repowering 36 wind turbines of type Vestas V66 were taken out of operation and completely dismantled. Each of the new plants supply 4 times more electricity as one of the old plants. Moreover the distance between the turbines and the settlement areas was extended to 1.000 m as required in Brandenburg.

The dismantling of the old plants and the new building has been carried out mainly on the original windpark area, but the wind farm was also expanded into a neighbouring former open cast pit area. Subsequent to the dismantling of the old plants foundation restoration work has been started. The excavations of former foundations have been filled up with top soil and culture friendly substrate. In further progress former crane pads will be dismantled and renatured. Further nature conservation compensatory measures are in preparation.

We are glad about the cooperation with the strong, internationally experienced and dedicated business partner the John Laing Group.
