Suzlon Energy: U.S. client cancels part of order

Mumbai, India - India's biggest wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltd. said that U.S.-based Edison Mission Energy (EME) has cancelled part of its purchase of 300 units of Suzlon's turbines.

The two-phase contract called for delivery of 150 units in 2008 and 150 units in 2009, with an option to EME to elect not to purchase the 150 units due for delivery in 2009. EME has elected not to purchase the 150 units due for delivery in 2009. The company said in a regulatory filing that following the cancellation, its order backlog will be reduced by 315 megawatts.
